NORTH MYRTLE BRACH, SC – The Cedar Crest College Softball team (0-1) opened their 2020 season with a 3-8 loss to Otterbein University (2-0) at the North Myrtle Beach Sports Complex on Sunday afternoon.
 
The Cardinals got on the scoreboard first, but the Falcons scored twice in the bottom of the first inning to take a 2-1 lead. Otterbein poured on six runs over the next three innings to put Cedar Crest behind 2-7. The Black and Yellow would tally one more to cut the deficit to 3-7, before the Cardinals tacked on one more run to put the game at the final score, 3-8.
 
Cedar Crest was credited with nine total hits, with two Falcons recording two hits apiece. Senior 
Dallas Horning (Bethlehem, PA /Liberty) went 2-for-4  and junior 
Patricia Dalton (Northampton, Pa./Northampton Area) went 2-for-3 and also scored a run for the Black and Yellow. Senior 
Nicole Santaniello (Kissimmee, Fl./Osceola) went 1-for-3 and recorded the lone extra-base hit for the Falcons, hitting a double that drove in a run and scored a run of her own.
 
Four other Falcons each recorded a hit in the contest, junior 
Riley Tremblay (Allentown, Pa./Parkland) went 1-for-3 with a walk and scored a run. Sophomores Delaney Buskirk and 
Skyler Bilous (Schnecksville, Pa./Parkland) also went 1-for-3 in the game, and freshman 
Renee Snyder (Allentown, Pa./Parkland) recorded her first-collegiate hit wearing a Cedar Crest uniform.
 
Two pitchers were in the circle for the Black and Yellow, getting the start was senior 
Breanna Young (Easton, PA /Wilson Area) (0-1), facing 18 batters in 3.0 innings of work. Entering the game in relief was 
Bilous, who faced 19 batters in 4.0 innings pitched.
 
Cedar Crest returns to action tomorrow morning, Monday, March 2 for a doubleheader of games on Field #5 at the North Myrtle Beach Sports Complex. Game 1 of the day is set for 9:30 AM against Castleton University, followed by a game versus River University to start approximately at 11:30 AM.
