ALLENTOWN, Pa. – The Cedar Crest College volleyball team bested the University of Valley Forge in straight sets to improve to 3-0 in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) action at Lees Gymnasium on Saturday morning.
The Falcons defeated the Patriots in three sets, (25-13, 25-13 and 25-5) and improve to 9-5 overall and 2-0 in conference play.
Cedar Crest led in nearly every statistical category, scoring 50 points, 35 digs, 29 kills, 28 assists, and 20 service aces. The teams were even in blocks with one each. The Falcons went on to post a .333 hitting percentage in the match.
Sophomore
Maddison Minyo (Covington, Pa./North Penn-Mansfield) led the squad in kills with nine in the match, with freshman
Alexis Cummins (Stafford, Va./Colonial Forge) downing six attacks for kills and junior
Kelsee Schouppe (Stroudsburg, Pa./Stroudsburg) recording five kills in the win. Leading Cedar Crest in assists was senior
Talia Watson (Harleysville, Pa./Souderton), who recorded 15 helpers and would tally a match-high seven aces. Sophomore libero
Rebekka Sanchez-Castro (Laurel, Md./Atholton) paced the home team with nine digs.
Cedar Crest (9-5 overall, 2-0 CSAC) will remain home for its next contest and will host Bryn Athyn College on Wednesday, October 6 at 7:00 p.m.
