ALLENTOWN, Pa. – The Cedar Crest College volleyball team defeated Bryn Athyn College in straight sets to improve to 3-0 in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) action on Wednesday evening.
The Falcons took down the Lions in three sets, (25-13, 25-10 and 25-11) and improve to 10-5 overall and remain unbeaten in conference play.
Cedar Crest led in every statistical category, scoring 54 points, 53 digs, 32 kills, 32 assists, 18 service aces and four total blocks in the match. The Falcon posted a .272 hitting percentage, with their best hitting percentage coming in the first set, where they recorded 13 kills with just three errors for a .294 hitting percentage.
Sophomore
Maddison Minyo (Covington, Pa./North Penn-Mansfield) led the squad in kills with 13 in the match, with junior
Kelsee Schouppe (Stroudsburg, Pa./Stroudsburg) registering eight, followed by classmate
Aliyah Rhoden (Barberton, Ohio/Barberton) with five. Pacing the Falcons in assists was senior
Talia Watson (Harleysville, Pa./Souderton), who recorded 31 helpers and would tally three aces. Sophomore
Rebekka Sanchez-Castro (Laurel, Md./Atholton) contributed a match 13 digs in the contest.
Cedar Crest (10-5 overall, 3-0 CSAC) hits the road for its next match on Saturday, October 9 at Clarks Summit University at 11:00 a.m. Bryn Athyn (2-9 overall, 2-1 CSAC) returns home to host Wilson College on Saturday in a 1:00 p.m. contest.
