ALLENTOWN, Pa. – The Cedar Crest College volleyball team was defeated 3-1 by Drew University on Tuesday evening at Lees Gymnasium.
The Falcons won the first set, 25-18, before dropping the next three sets by scores of 25-22, 25-18, and 26-24.
The Black and Yellow tallied a total of 60 points with 87 digs, 48 kills, 44 assists, nine service aces and three blocks in the match.
For the statistical leaders, senior setter
Talia Watson (Harleysville, Pa./Souderton) contributed 22 assists and five service aces. Sophomore
Ava Grapsy (Macungie, Pa./Allentown Central Catholic) recorded a team-high 13 kills to go along with 16 assists and 17 digs for her 11
th triple-double in as many matches, which leads all three NCAA Divisions. No other student-athlete has more than four on the season. Graduate student libero
Tiffany Hoppes (Macungie, Pa./Emmaus) led the Falcons with 28 digs, followed by sophomore
Rebekka Sanchez-Castro (Laurel, Md./Atholton) followed with 18.
Cedar Crest (6-5 overall) will look to rebound on Friday, September 24 when the Falcons host a non-conference contest against Moravian University. The match is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. at Lees Gymnasium.
