Volleyball Sweeps Valley Forge in Regular Season Finale

PHOENIXVILLE, Pa. – The Cedar Crest College volleyball team swept the University of Valley Forge, 3-0, in its regular season finale in a Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) match at The Pit.

The Falcons took the match by scores 25-6, 25-8, and 25-8.

The Patriots got out to a 4-1 lead in the first set, but Cedar Crest answered with a 13-0 run to go up by 10, 14-4. Following three straight service errors to make the score 15-6, the Falcons closed the stanza on a 10-0 spurt to win the frame, 25-8.

Valley Forge held the early 4-2 advantage in set number two, but Cedar Crest rallied for an 11-1 run to push the margin to eight, 13-5. Following a service error from the Falcons, Cedar Crest finished on a 12-2 jaunt to take the middle set, 25-8.

The Falcons jumped out to a 4-1 lead in the final set. After two straight points from the Patriots, Cedar Crest embarked on an 11-0 run to build a 12-point advantage, 15-3. Valley Forge was able to get to within 11, but the Falcons won the set by a 25-8 score.

Senior Kelsee Schouppe paced Cedar Crest with four kills and added three service aces, along with three digs. First-year Ellise Everett added four kills while sophomore Akashia Johnson pitched in with three. Junior Ava Grapsy handed out a match-high 16 assists, while classmate Rebekka Sanchez-Castro registered 12 digs and four service aces. Junior Daja Jackson had a match-high nine service aces.

Cedar Crest (11-8 overall, 8-1 CSAC) captured the No. 1 seed for the upcoming CSAC Championship Tournament and will host the lowest remaining seed from the quarterfinal winners on Thursday, November 3.
