CLARKS SUMMIT, Pa. – The Cedar Crest College volleyball team captured a 3-0 victory over Clarks Summit University in a United East Conference-Skye Division match on Tuesday night at Huckaby Gymnasium.
The Falcons won by set scores of 25-12, 25-11, and 25-9.
Cedar Crest doubled up the Lady Defenders 10-5 in the early going in set one. A 5-1 run later in the frame pushed the lead to 10, 18-8, after a setting error. The Falcons then closed the set on a 7-4 run to win the opening set, 25-12.
Cedar Crest started fast with a 13-1 run to begin the second set. The Falcons led by as many as 14 and would eventually come away with the 25-11 victory in the stanza.
Cedar Crest began the final set on a 12-1 run and pushed the lead to 14 after a kill by senior
Ziah Melton (Allentown, Pa./William Allen) to make the score 16-2. Later in the set, Clarks Summit scored three straight points to cut the deficit to 11, 18-7, but the Falcons closed on a 7-2 run to take the set 25-9 and the match in straight sets.

Maddison Minyo (Covington, Pa./North Penn-Mansfield) led the way with seven kills to go along with three digs, two service aces and one assist. Sophomore
Ellise Everett (Orlando, Fla./Lake Nona) followed with six kills and three blocks. Melton had five kills, two service aces, and two digs. First-year
Nikki Blair (Bridgewater, N.J./Bridgewater-Raritan) dished out a match-high 18 assists while senior
Rebekka Sanchez-Castro (Columbia, Md./Atholton) paced the defense with 14 digs.
Cedar Crest (10-8 overall, 5-0 United East Conference-Skye Division) will host Bryn Athyn College on Saturday, October 21 on Senior Day and Homecoming Weekend.
