ALLENTOWN, Pa. – The Cedar Crest College lacrosse team suffered a 16-4 loss to Bryn Athyn College in a Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) contest on Wednesday night at the FalconPlex.
The Lions got off to a fast start, tallying the first six goals of the contest. Sophomore Kylie Scarpiello (Bensalem, Pa.) netted the opening goal off an assist from senior Lee Antwi (North Brunswick, N.J.) with 11:41 on the clock. Junior Allyson Paul (Jenkintown, Pa.) found the back of the net 39 seconds later, this time with the helper coming from first-year Sabrina Brock (Huntingdon Valley, Pa.). Antwi got in the scoring column when she deposited a shot off a pass from sophomore Maria Storck (Philadelphia, Pa.). Brock, Scarpiello, and Storck each scored again on the run to extend the lead to 6-1. Sophomore
Maddie Graham (Clayton, Del./Smyrna) put the Falcons on the scoreboard with an unassisted marker with 1:19 remaining, but Bryn Athyn would record another goal with 18 seconds left on a tally from Scarpiello for the 7-1 advantage at the end of one.
The visitors began the scoring in the second quarter as Storck registered a goal just 33 seconds in. The Lions added another when sophomore Shea Gormley (Huntingdon Valley, Pa.) found the back of the net at the 11:43 mark with the assist going to Brock. Cedar Crest got a goal back when Graham deposited her second of the game with 9:38 to play in the stanza, with first-year
Kylah Demarest (Vernon, N.J./Vernon Township) getting credit for the assist to make the score 9-2. Storck and Paul each netted goals to help Bryn Athyn stretch the margin to nine, 11-2, at the half.
The Falcons' defense limited the Lions to just one goal in the third quarter, which at the 9:36 mark from the stick of Scarpiello to make the score 12-2 with one frame to play.
The teams traded the first three goals of the fourth quarter. Demarest registered her second of the game just over a minute in. Gormley answered with a marker for Bryn Athyn with 8:56 left on the clock. Graham finished off her hat trick with 5:18 remaining to cut the lead to nine, 13-4. The assist was credited to Demarest.
The Lions then closed with three-straight tallies with one from Brock, one from Gormley, and the final from sophomore Kayla Smith (Jarrettsville, Md.) for the 16-4 final.
First-year Chloe Munyon (Bensalem, Pa.) secured the win in goal for Bryn Athyn, making four saves. Junior
Kayleigh Woomer (Gales Ferry, Conn./Ledyard) converted 11 stops in the loss.
Brock paced the Lions with six points on two goals and four assists. Storck followed with five points on a hat trick and a pair of helpers. Scarpiello had four points on four goals. Antwi registered four points on a goal and three assists. Gormley added a hat trick while Paul was the final Bryn Athyn player with double-digit points with two goals.
Graham had three points on a hat trick for the Falcons. Demarest added three points on a goal and two assists.

The Falcons tallied 12 caused turnovers. Sipel led the way with three. Bilger and Graham pitched in two apiece. Terranova, Dias, Jackson, Woomer, and first-year
Brooke Holley (Elkton, Md./Elkton) each had one.
Cedar Crest also had nine draw controls. Graham had a team-high six, Holley added a pair, while Bilger had one.
Cedar Crest (3-8 overall, 0-4 CSAC) will travel to Sweet Briar College for its regular-season conference finale on Saturday, April 29 at noon. Bryn Athyn (8-2 overall, 3-0 CSAC) will host Keystone College in its regular-season finale on Saturday at noon.
