LA PLUME, Pa. – The Cedar Crest College volleyball team was swept by Keystone College, 3-0, in a United East Conference match on Saturday night at the Gambal Athletic Center.
The Giants won the match by set scores 25-17, 25-17, and 25-20.
In the first set, the Falcons held a 17-13 lead, but Keystone closed the frame on a 12-0 run to capture set by a 25-17 score.
The Giants doubled up the Falcons, 10-5, in the early going of set number two and then later, 18-9. Later in the stanza, Cedar Crest trimmed the margin to six, 23-17 after a 3-0 run, but back-to-back kills from Genevieve Pollock (Wallkill, N.Y.) gave Keystone the 25-17 second set victory.
The third set was tight as the teams traded the opening 22 points of the set, 11-11. The Giants embarked on an 8-3 run to build a 19-14 advantage. The Falcons cut the deficit to two, 22-20, but Keystone finished on a mini 3-0 run to take the third set, 25-20 and the match in straight sets.

Ziah Melton (Allentown, Pa./William Allen) led Cedar Crest with seven kills to go along with seven digs. Classmate
Rebekka Sanchez-Castro (Columbia, Md./Atholton) and junior
Ellise Everett (Orlando, Fla./Lake Nona) followed with six kills apiece. Sophomore
Tianlly Davila (Frederick, Md./Governor Thomas Johnson) handed out a team-high 18 assists in addition to six digs, two service aces, and one kill. Sanchez-Castro had a match-high 15 digs while sophomore
Maiya Piccarreta (Douglassville, Pa./Daniel Boone Area) collected 10 digs.
Sophomore Kaliyah Brown (Maricopa, Ariz.) guided the Giants with 10 kills, four digs, and one block.
Cedar Crest (6-11 overall, 1-1 United East) will remain on the road for a match at Gallaudet University on Wednesday, October 9 at 7:30 p.m. Keystone (14-2 overall, 2-0 United East) will next play at the University of Valley Forge on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m.
