Lacrosse Drops United East Opener to St. Mary's

ALLENTOWN, Pa. – The Cedar Crest College lacrosse team dropped its United East Conference opener to St. Mary's College of Maryland in a 20-0 final at the FalconPlex on Saturday afternoon.

The Seahawks started fast with 12 goals in the first quarter. The visitors added four more in the second to carry a 15-0 lead into the halftime intermission.

St. Mary's tallied three goals in the third and two more in the fourth to make it the 20-0 final score.

First-year Allie Greeley (Havre de Grace, Md.) made one save in the win for the Seahawks. Senior Kayleigh Woomer (Gales Ferry, Conn./Ledyard) converted seven saves in 30 minutes while first-year Irelyn Yoder (Wilmington, Del./Concord) recorded two saves in the second half.

Sophomore Katelin Scala (Catonsville, Md.) paced St. Mary's with seven points on four goals and three assists.

The Falcons picked up 13 ground balls in the loss. Woomer had three. Sophomore Kylah Demarest (Vernon, N.J./Vernon Township) followed with two. Junior Maddie Graham (Clayton, Del./Smyrna), senior Adriana Hinkle (Palmerton, Pa./Homeschooled (played for Lehighton)), sophomore Ellie Terranova (Wilmington, Del./Mount Pleasant), junior Ashley Large (Parker, Colo./Regis Jesuit), first-year Kadee Schrader (Northampton, Pa./Northampton Area), junior Abi Sipel (Bethlehem, Pa./Freedom), junior Rachel Bilger (Philadelphia, Pa./Upper Dublin), and Yoder each had one.

Cedar Crest registered six caused turnovers. Bilger led the way with two, while Demarest, Hinkle, Large, and Sipel recorded one apiece.

The Falcons had four draw controls. Hinkle grabbed two while Graham and Schrader snagged one each.

Cedar Crest (4-2 overall, 0-1 United East) will next play on at the College of Old Westbury on Thursday, April 4 at 4:00 p.m. St. Mary's (6-5 overall, 2-0 United East) returns to the field Saturday, April 6 at Wilson College beginning at 1:00 p.m.
