ALLENTOWN, Pa. – The Cedar Crest College Athletic Department is excited to announce the promotion of
Dallas Horning to Assistant Athletic Director for Facilities and Operations/Associate Head Softball Coach, as announced by Athletic Director
Christy Malone Fleagle on Friday.
In this dual role, Horning will oversee the daily operations of Cedar Crest College's athletic facilities while continuing to coach the softball program. With a strong commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive environment, Cedar Crest Athletics continues to uphold its core values of leadership, integrity, service, excellence, and community to enhance the student-athlete experience.
"Dallas has been a key reason for our success over the past few years," said Fleagle. "Her hard work, work ethic, and organizational skills in handling rentals and contracts have greatly contributed to the smooth operation of our department, ensuring our facilities run efficiently and effectively. With the recent launch of the state-of-the-art Cynthia L. Blaschak Field turf softball field, we are thrilled to provide even more opportunities for our community. Dallas will continue to play a key role in the success and growth of this organization!"
Horning has played a vital role in managing and scheduling rental contracts for the department, making significant improvements with community rental groups and ensuring seamless operations for various athletic facilities. She will continue to organize and lead student workers, manage payroll, and schedule facility coverage.
"I am beyond thankful for the constant appreciation and chance of opportunity not only the athletic department has given me, but Cedar Crest College as a whole," said Horning. "After graduating, it was clear to me that I was not ready to leave the game and program that has given so much to me. I am honored to be given an opportunity to continue to not only stay deeply connected with the program, but to give back to the game of softball and to the people in the athletic department who have invested in me and my future. Being a Cedar Crest Softball Alumnae in this role makes it all a little more special to me. Having played for Coach Kim and working beside her for the last three years I have learned that creating meaningful relationships matters most. I hope to continue creating those relationships and being a mentor to student-athletes while also contributing to the constant progression of the athletic department."
Additionally, Horning has been elevated to Associate Head Softball Coach. Head Softball Coach
Kim Begley has credited Horning for the exceptional recruiting class that the softball team has recently secured.
"It has been my pleasure to watch Dallas grow within the department," said Begley. "Dallas was a talented student-athlete and key player in the historic softball season in 2021 that has been the driving force of our team's competitive culture. She showed her leadership in 2021 as our team captain and has continued to show her leadership in a different role as Assistant Coach for the past three seasons. Dallas has been an instrumental part in recruiting prospective student-athletes, player development, and overall student-athlete experience. I am excited for Dallas' future with the Falcons both within the athletic department and on the softball field."
In her role as the Associate Head Softball Coach, Horning will focus on training and developing softball student-athletes in the fundamentals of the game, creating and executing game and practice plans, and guiding athletes on health, nutrition, wellness, safety, and team concepts. She will address academic concerns and assist in monitoring academic progress for our softball student-athletes. Furthermore, she will continue to recruit prospective athletes to maintain a strong and competitive softball roster, fostering mentoring relationships and providing a positive, supportive athletic and academic experience.
The softball team commences its 2025 season on Wednesday, February 26 in a home doubleheader against Widener University beginning at 3:00 p.m.
