ALLENTOWN, Pa. – Cedar Crest College Head Wrestling Coach Alex Depew has been nominated for the 2025 NCAA Women's Region II Coach of the Year, joining Anibal Nieves of East Stroudsburg University and Joseph Jamison of Ursinus College. The voting ended on Sunday, February 16 and all voting is done by the coaches in the region. The winner of the will be announced next week at the NCWWC Region 2 Championships.

In just the third season in program history, Depew led the 2024-25 Falcons to an 8-2 dual match record. Additionally, he guided the team to a fourth-place finish at the Millersville University Tournament, and has 11 student-athletes on the roster.

Under Depew's leadership, first-year Mel Val (Tracy City, Tenn./St. Andrew's Sewanee) has set the program record for most wins by a first-year with 18, while senior Zakiyyah Sabir (Philadelphia, Pa./Philadelphia E&T) and junior Draydon Charman (Vernon, N.J./Vernon Township) placed at the 2025 Pennsylvania Women's Collegiate State Championships. Sophomore Alaina Stanford (Camden, Del./Caesar Rodney) also claimed the championship at 131 at the Millersville Women's Collegiate Open.

Cedar Crest will conclude its season at the NCWWC Region 2 Championships at East Stroudsburg University on Sunday, February 23 at 10:00 a.m.
