DOYLESTOWN, Pa. – The Cedar Crest College wrestling team lost a 35-13 decision to Delaware Valley University on Tuesday night at James Work Gymnasium.

"Hats off to Del Val," said Head Wrestling Coach Alex Depew. "Andrew Taylor is one of the best coaches in women's wrestling and always brings a squad to go. Our girls really performed. We gave up 15 free points due to injury. Mel and Alaina went out and took care of business. Zakiyyah wrestled the best match of her collegiate career and pinned a tough kid. Even in a loss, there are a bunch of positives to take away from tonight."

The match began with sophomore Jesenia Camargo (Lakewood, N.J.) taking down senior Lauren Jackson (Ambler, Pa./Wissahickon) by tech fall at 103.

The Aggies grabbed five points with a forfeit win at 110.

Sophomore Josey Wehr (Orefield, Pa.) defeated first-year Arianna Gonzalez (Fallsburg, N.Y./Fallsburg Junior Senior) by fall at 117.

The Falcons recorded back-to-back wins at 124 and 131. First-year Mel Val (Tracy City, Tenn./St. Andrew's Sewanee) beat first-year Isabella LaPerry (Beachwood, N.J.) by way of fall (2:02) at 124 and sophomore Alaina Stanford (Camden, Del./Caesar Rodney) got by first-year Alex Graffius (Brigantine, N.J.) by decision, 6-1, at 131.

Delaware Valley claimed a forfeit win at 138.

At 145, senior Zakiyyah Sabir (Philadelphia, Pa./Philadelphia E&T) earned a win by fall (4:26) over first-year Olivia Ball (Harrisburg, Pa.).

The Aggies snagged another five points with a forfeit win at 160.

At 180, sophomore Kathryn Martin (Millers, Md.) topped first-year Symarah Drey (Bethlehem, Pa./Liberty) by fall and junior Draydon Charman (Vernon, N.J./Vernon Township) was taken down by Emma Helverson via fall at 207 to close out the match.

Cedar Crest (8-2 overall) will now turn its attention to the NCWWC Region 2 Championships, which will take place at East Stroudsburg University on Sunday, February 23 at 10:00 a.m. Delaware Valley (8-9 overall) travels to York College (Pa.) for a dual match on Sunday, February 9 at 1:00 p.m.
