ALLENTOWN, Pa. – The Cedar Crest College softball team was swept by John Jay College in a non-conference doubleheader on Saturday afternoon at Cynthia L. Blaschak Field. The Falcons fell 8-2 in game one and then 9-3 in game two.
Game One – John Jay 8, Cedar Crest 2
The Bloodhounds struck first with four runs in the top of the first inning. Junior Kendal Bryant (Vineland, N.J.) drove in a pair with a double to left field to start things off. Junior Sidney Bankston (Ellijay, Ga.) delivered the next run with a single through the right side. The last run of the frame came when G. Thomas drew a bases-loaded walk, which helped plate sophomore Alyssa Cadolino (Chantilly, Va.) for the 4-0 score.
The Falcons got a run back in the home half of the first when first-year
Emily Christopher (Palmerton, Pa./Palmerton Area) drew a bases-loaded walk to bring home classmate
Madison Nadasi (Bushkill, Pa./East Stroudsburg North) to make it a three-run game, 4-1.
John Jay recorded three runs with one swing of the bat in the second after Bryant connected on a three-run home run to left field to increase the lead to 7-1.
After three scoreless innings, the Bloodhounds tacked on another tally in the sixth to push the score to 8-1.
Cedar Crest pushed a run across in the bottom of the seventh as junior
Laney Ferraro (Philadelphia, Pa./New Foundations Charter) drove in classmate
Natalie Hasert (Vernon, N.J./Vernon Township) with a sacrifice fly to center field for the 8-2 final.
Sophomore Natalie Graham (Emerson, N.J.) was the winning pitcher in game one, striking out nine and walking five in a complete game effort. First-year
Erin Gray (Pennsburg, Pa./Upper Perkiomen) struck out one and walked three over seven innings for the Falcons.

Brooke Trentler (Whiteford, Md./North Harford) collected a hit apiece for the Falcons.
Junior Elika Rodrigues (Las Vegas, Nev.) went 3-for-4 with three runs scored to guide John Jay. Bryant finished 2-for-4 with five RBI and two runs scored.
Game Two – John Jay 9, Cedar Crest 3
The Bloodhounds recorded three runs in the top of the first to build a 3-0 advantage.
Cedar Crest plated a run in the bottom of the first after Hasert registered a triple to center field. The three-bagger brought home Gronkowski to cut the deficit to two, 3-1.
John Jay got a run back in the second when junior Kelly Fajardo (Parsippany, N.J.) crossed home on a wild pitch to make the score, 4-1.
The Falcons picked up a pair of runs in the home half of the second. Hasert drove in Gronkowski with a double to left field and then Kline delivered a base-hit up the middle to bring in Hasert to make it a 4-3 ball game.
The Bloodhounds scored five runs in the final three innings.
Junior Olivia Paoli (Lynden, Wash.) had a single through the left side to bring around senior Rylea Sandel (Deer Park, Texas). Sandel then connected on a two-RBI double to center field and then senior Angelina Schoelles (Bayside, N.Y.) singled through the right side to plate Paoli and first-year Cleirys Fornerin (Bronx, N.Y.) for the 9-3 final.
Sophomore Lindsay Ogden (Loxahatchee, Fla.) secured the win in the circle for John Jay, fanning 11 batters while allowing one walk in a complete game victory. First-year
Alexis Acevedo (Bethlehem, Pa./Freedom) struck out a pair and walked four in the setback for Cedar Crest.
Paoli went 3-for-4 with one RBI and one run scored for the Bloodhounds.
Gronkowski went 2-for-3 with two runs scored and Hasert followed by going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run scored for the Falcons.
Cedar Crest (2-10 overall) will stay home to host Delaware Valley University on Tuesday, March 18 in a doubleheader beginning at 3:00 p.m. John Jay (5-1 overall) remains on the road for a non-conference doubleheader at New Jersey City University on Tuesday at 3:00 p.m.
