Graham Registers 200th Career Point in Lacrosse’s Setback to Mount Aloysius in Non-Conference Finale

CRESSON, Pa. – The Cedar Crest College lacrosse team fell to Mount Aloysius College in a 15-7 final in its non-conference finale on Thursday night at Kelly Field. With a pair of goals, senior Maddie Graham (Clayton, Del./Smyrna) recorded her 200th career point.

The Mounties started the game on a 4-0 run, capped off by a marker from graduate student Clara Larios-Soto (Laurel, Md.) with 8:53 remaining in the opening quarter. Sophomore Brenna Dobson (Lewistown, pa.) was credited with the assist. The Falcons came back with back-to-back goals, the first being awarded to Graham while sophomore Kadee Schrader (Northampton, Pa./Northampton Area) assisted junior Kylah Demarest (Vernon, N.J./Vernon Township) on the next tally with 6:15 left on the clock. Junior Amanda Price (Columbia, Pa.) found the back of the net for Mount Aloysius to round out the scoring in the first 15 minutes and give the Mounties a 5-2 lead.

Larios-Soto collected the first two goals of the second stanza for the home squad. Junior Ellie Terranova (Wilmington, Del./Mount Pleasant) snapped the 3-0 scoring run with a goal with 4:42 to play in the first half to pull Cedar Crest to within four, 7-3. Senior Katelyn Garber (Midlothian, Va.) registered a man-up goal with 12 seconds remaining to send Mount Aloysius into the break ahead by five, 8-3.

The Mounties outscored the Falcons, 4-3 in the third quarter. Terranova had a pair and Graham put one home to close out the scoring in the frame for Cedar Crest. Mount Aloysius held a 12-6 advantage heading into the last quarter.

Junior Shelby Smeal (Altoona, Pa.) started the fourth quarter with two consecutive goals for the Mounties. Senior Lauren Jackson (Ambler, Pa./Wissahickon) was credited with the last marker for the Falcons and then first-year Cassidy Cook (Glen Burnie, Md.) netted the final goal of the game for Mount Aloysius in the 15-7 final.

Senior Kendall Cramer (Canonsburg, Pa.) took home the win in goal, making eight saves. Sophomore Irelyn Yoder (Wilmington, Del./Concord) converted 15 saves in the loss.

Terranova led the way for the Falcons with a hat trick, Graham had a pair, while Jackson and Demarest closed out the scoring column with one apiece. Schrader had one point on one assist.

Larios-Soto paced the Mounties with six points on four goals and two assists.

Cedar Crest collected 17 ground balls in the game. Senior Rachel Bilger (Philadelphia, Pa./Upper Dublin) paced the team with four. Senior Ashley Large (Parker, Colo./Regis Jesuit) and Yoder had three each. Graham and first-year Angelina Plut (Blairstown, N.J./North Warren Regional) followed with two apiece while Terranova, Schrader, and junior Adriana Dias (Bethlehem, Pa./Bethlehem Catholic) rounded out the category with one each.

The Falcons had nine caused turnovers. Bilger had a team high two while Large, Graham, Plut, Schrader, Dias, Demarest, and sophomore Carly Piciullo (Brick, N.J./Brick Memorial) pitched in one apiece.

Cedar Crest recorded eight draw controls in the contest. Terranova had five, Piciullo registered two, and Graham closed the column with one.

Cedar Crest (5-6 overall) concludes the regular season at home against Wilson College on Saturday, April 19 at 1:00 p.m. Mount Aloysius (5-6 overall) welcomes in Hilbert College for its next game on Saturday at 11:00 a.m.
