BUENA VISTA, Va. – The Cedar Crest College wrestling team saw seven student-athletes place in the top five of their respective weight classes at the Southern Virginia University Invitational on Saturday, led by senior Draydon Charman (Vernon, N.J./Vernon Township) claiming the title at 160.

"I was told to give myself a chance and pretty much followed that the entire way," reflected Charman. "I'm appreciative of the support I had by my side cheering on as I did the work and got in some gnarly headlocks."

First-year Mary Lopes (Barnet, Vt./St. Johnsbury Academy) went 1-3 at 103 with her lone win by decision, 15-10 over Aspen Cook of Mount Olive and placed fourth in the weight class.

Junior Leilani Martinez (Reading, Pa./Exeter Township Senior) battled back from a pair of losses to place third at 110. She earned a victory by decision, 7-2, over Emma Bond of Liberty University and then defeated Greensboro College's Breanna Davis by fall (1:07) in the third-place match.

First-year Andi Bibeau (Bushkill, Pa./East Stroudsburg North) went 1-1 on the day, beginning with a victory by decision, 14-7, topping Kylie Brigman of Randolph College. She then lost to Mount Olive's Ahriana Scales via tech fall to finish second.

Junior Alaina Stanford (Camden, Del./Caesar Rodney) went 2-2 on the day, collecting wins over Makenzie Robinson of Emory & Henry by fall (2:04) and then won by default over Robinson to place fifth.

First-year Madacyn Snyder (Wind Gap, Pa./Pen Argyl) went 3-1, beginning the day with a victory via fall (1:45) over Anella Fabriziani of Randolph College. After a loss by decision, Snyder responded with back-to-back wins, topping Emory & Henry's Kendi Dye by decision, 9-0, and Amanda Walker of Liberty University by tech fall to take third.

Junior Maddie Stultz (Tobyhanna, Pa./Pocono Mountain West) collected two wins, both coming by fall, taking down Southern Virginia University's Eve Beckstead in 59 seconds and later pinned Savannah Chesney of Mount Olive in 1:11.

Charman went 4-0 en route to the title at 160, winning all four matches by fall. In her first bout, Charman pinned Allyssa Wasmund of Greensboro College in 1:09. She followed up that performance by taking down Randolph College's Miazion Warren in just 48 seconds. Charman kept things rolling with a victory via fall (2:17) over Rihana Carson of Emory & Henry. In the final bout, Charman defeated Alexis Kirkland in 2:04 to capture the crown.

Sophomore Symarah Drey (Bethlehem, Pa./Liberty) earned one win during the Invitational, defeating Alexis Spade of Randolph College by fall, pinning her opponent in 52 seconds.

Junior Sarah Seltzer (Shohola, Pa./Delaware Valley) went 1-2 on the day, with her lone win coming by fall (2:34) over Randolph College's Mikayla Ozueh to finish fifth.

First-year Lily Decker (Saylorsburg, Pa./Pleasant Valley) also competed at 207 and lost twice by fall.

Cedar Crest will return home to host Delaware Valley University on Wednesday, January 14 at 6:00 p.m., marking Senior Night for the program.
