DALLAS, Pa. – The Cedar Crest College wrestling team concluded the dual match portion of its schedule with a 33-10 victory over Misericordia University on Tuesday night at the Anderson Center.
With the win, the Falcons move to 8-1 on the season and 16-3 over the past two seasons.
Cedar Crest captured seven of the nine matches, taking two by fall, one by medical forfeit, one by decision, and three by forfeit.
First-year
Mary Lopes (Barnet, Vt./St. Johnsbury Academy) got things started with a victory by fall at 103, pinning first-year Penny Gomlak (Mons, Belgium) in 2:41 to make the score 5-0 in favor of the Falcons.
The Cougars got on the board at 110 as first-year Kamryn Kramer (Shamokin, Pa.) defeated sophomore
Giada Smith (Springtown, Pa./Palisades) by tech fall to cut the margin to one, 5-4.
There was no match at 117 and then Cedar Crest followed with forfeit victories by first-year
Andi Bibeau (Bushkill, Pa./East Stroudsburg North) at 124, junior
Alaina Stanford (Camden, Del./Caesar Rodney) at 131, and first-year
Madacyn Snyder (Wind Gap, Pa./Pen Argyl) at 138 to build a 20-4 advantage.
Misericordia registered a win at 145 as sophomore Kailey Remish (Hanover Township, Pa.) got by junior
Maddie Stultz (Tobyhanna, Pa./Pocono Mountain West) by fall to trim the deficit to 11, 20-9.
Senior
Draydon Charman (Vernon, N.J./Vernon Township) recorded a victory via fall over sophomore Grace Capoocia (Elverson, Pa.), pinning her opponent in 2:12 to push the score to 25-9.
Sophomore
Symarah Drey (Bethlehem, Pa./Liberty) won by medical forfeit at 180 to increase the score to 30-9.
Junior
Sarah Seltzer (Shohola, Pa./Delaware Valley) closed out the match with a win by decision (8-4) over sophomore Maya Landefeld (Harrisburg, Pa.) at 207 for the 33-10 final.
In an extra match at 145, Snyder won the match by fall (2:00) over Remish. With the triumph, Snyder tied the single season wins record at 19.
The final extra match took place at 207 and saw Landefeld defeat first-year
Lily Decker (Saylorsburg, Pa./Pleasant Valley) by decision, 6-2.
Cedar Crest (8-1 overall) will now turn its attention to the NCAA Regionals, which will begin on Friday, February 20 at West Liberty University.
