Laney Ferraro (Philadelphia, Pa./New Foundations Charter) of the Cedar Crest College softball team received the Nellie Manges Scholar Athlete Award at the 2025-26 Awards Ceremony.
Named for the Dean of Students Emerita Nellie M. Manges, the award is presented to the student-athlete who graduates with the highest grade point average and competed in at least three seasons of competition with one being her senior year.
A four-year starter, Ferraro provided both offensive production and defensive reliability for the Falcons. In her four years, she played in 122 games, accumulating 311 at bats, 72 hits, 30 doubles, six triples, and two home runs. Her offensive power attributed to 73 runs and 57 RBIs. Defensively, she held a career fielding average of .913.
Ferraro was been a consistent member of the CSAC and United East Conference All-Academic Team and Dean's List recipient over her four-year career. She is also a member of Chi Alpha Sigma and Delta Delta Epsilon. After being inducted into the Forensic Science Honors Society as a junior, she held the Vice President seat. She graduated with degrees in Forensic Science and Chemistry with a minor in Biology.
Ferraro will be continuing her education at Cedar Crest in the Forensic Science Master's Program.
