LA PLUME, Pa. – The Cedar Crest College track & field team finished fourth out of nine teams at the United East Conference Championships, which wrapped up on Sunday at Keystone College. The Falcons recorded 87 points as a squad.
In the first event of the day, first-year
Kaitlyn Cohen (Syracuse, N.Y./Jamesville-Dewitt) took fifth place in the pole vault with a mark of 2.31 meters.
The Falcons had five participants in the discus. Senior
Bella Bozen (Lockport, Ill./Lockport Township) led the way with a third-place finish, tallying a mark of 35.24 meters. Senior
Alana Connor (Manassas, Va./Charles J. Colgan) came in sixth with a throw of 31.50 meters. First-year
Caterina Catizone (Milford, Pa./Delaware Valley) took 10
th with a mark of 28.67 meters. Sophomore
Symarah Drey (Bethlehem, Pa./Liberty) and junior
Courtney Gibbons (Allentown, Pa./Parkland) rounded out the competitors in the field for Cedar Crest with marks of 25.39 meters and 18.82 meters, respectively.
In the 4x100-meter relay, the Falcon team crossed third with a time of 53.51 seconds.
Senior
Lauren Davis (Oley, Pa./Oley Valley) paced Cedar Crest in the 1500-meter run with a time of 6:53.56 while classmate
Shayla Simek (Lehighton, Pa./Lehighton Area) came in right behind (6:55.83).
In the 400-meter dash, sophomore
Laila Stevenson (Sayreville, N.J./Sayreville War Memorial) crossed the finish line fourth in a time of 59.94 while sophomore
Mel Val (Tracy City, Tenn./St. Andrew's Sewanee) clocked a time of 1:02.95, which was seventh.
First-year
Keyara Harriston (Allentown, Pa./William Allen) was the lone Falcon in the 100-meter hurdles, taking third in a time of 18.65 seconds.
In the 100-meter dash finals, sophomore
Alyssa Maldonado (Delmar, Md./Parkland) registered a sixth-place finish (13.90 seconds).
Cedar Crest had a trio in the shot put. Catizone took tenth with a throw of 9.70 meters. Bozen followed in 12
th (9.40 meters). Connor closed out the participants for the Falcons with a mark of 8.93 meters.
Sophomore
Giada Smith (Springtown, Pa./Palisades) was the only Cedar Crest student-athlete in the 800-meter run, clocking a time of 2:43.69 to finish eighth.
In the 200-meter dash finals, Stevenson grabbed fifth place (28.02 seconds) followed by Val in seventh (30.75 seconds).
Smith was back in action for the 5000-meter run and recorded a time of 21:47.95, placing her seventh.
In the final event of the meet, the Falcon team took fourth in the 4x400-meter relay, crossing the line in 4:37.41.
The meet marked the end of the season for Cedar Crest.
