Rosemont, PA - They were oh-so-close, but Cedar Crest lost a Colonial States Athletic Conference match at Rosemont College on Saturday by the slimmest of margins, 5-4.
The Ravens took the early lead at 2-1 after the doubles competition, with Cedar Crest recording an 8-6 win only at No. 2 doubles with the team of Cassandra Bejar (Allentown, PA, William Allen) and Jenny Clay (Kempton, PA, Kutztown Area).
But the Falcons could only manage to go 3-3 in the singles competition with wins by Bejar at No. 2 singles (6-2, 6-3), with Clay at No. 3 singles (6-3, 6-2), and with freshman Maria Vincent (Georgetown, DE, Sussex Central) at No. 6 singles (7-5, 6-3). The three victories were the first singles victories all season for the three Falcon players.
Cedar Crest is now 0-8 overall and 0-5 in the CSAC, while Rosemont improves to 3-5 and 3-3 in the Conference. The Falcons will try for another CSAC win at Notre Dame of Maryland University on Sunday, October 2nd, at 12:00 PM.
