La Plume, - Cedar Crest avoided a winless season with a victory in their last Colonial States Athletic Conference match of the year on Saturday, a 5-4 win at Keystone College.
Keystone opened with wins at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles, but defaulted at No. 3 doubles to lead 2-1. In the singles portion, Cedar Crest tallied wins at No. 2 with junior Cassandra Bejar (Allentown, PA/William Allen) (8-6, 6-3), No. 3 with junior Jenny Clay (Kempton, PA/Kutztown Area) (6-1, 6-3), and No. 5 with freshman Rakia Otoo (Bronx, NY/Manhattan Center for Science & Math) (6-3, 7-5) to even the score at 4-4, but Keystone defaulted at the No. 6 singles position, handing the Falcons the conference win.
Cedar Crest is now 1-14 on the season and 1-9 in the CSAC, while Keystone remains winless. On Tuesday, October 18th, the Falcons will close the season by hosting Rutgers Camden in a previously rained-out non-conference match at 3:30 PM.
