Season Stats
Dover, DE - It was an inauspicious start to the 2012 season for Cedar Crest soccer as they opened on the road against non-conference opponent Wesley College and ended up on the wrong side of a 4-0 score.
Early season injuries have resulted in a short bench for the Falcons, who had just one sub, while Wesley substituted liberally. Cedar Crest hung with the Wolverines for the majority of the first half, which was scoreless until Wesley notched two quick goals in the final minute before halftime. Then fresh legs seemed to take their toll, as the hosts added two more goals early in the second half. The Falcons were unable to record any shots on goal, while Wesley had 15 for the game.
For Cedar Crest, senior goalkeeper Daniella Mendez (Cedar Grove, NJ/Montclair Kimberly Academy) had 11 saves in a complete game.
The Falcons begin the season 0-1 and have yet to start Colonial States Athletic Conference play. Wesley begins 1-0. Cedar Crest will open at home on Sunday, September 2nd, at 2:00 PM against Washington College.
