Tennis Moves into Playoff Contention With Win

The Cedar Crest College Tennis Team kept this streak rolling with a 7-2 win over the Keystone Giants in CSAC Tennis action this weekend.

In doubles action the #1 team of Amy Frey (Hellertown, PA/Saucon Valley) and Jamie Wojiechowski started the Falcons off right winning 8-3.  The #2 doubles would find themselves on the losing end of a 8-6 battle while the #3 team of Kyleen Sisson (Laceyville, PA/Elk Lake) and Olga Cauble (Concord, NH/Concord) kept their own streak alive winning 8-2.

In singles competition the Falcons would see their luck continue with Amy Frey (Hellertown, PA/Saucon Valley) winning her fourth straight singles match 6-0, 6-0.  Jamie Wojiechowski would also follow Frey's trend in winning 6-4, 5-7, 7-6 pushing her individual record in the last five matches 4-1.  Sisson, who had been playing at the #4 position in singles all season stepped up in a big way for the Falcons winning the #3 singles position 2-6, 7-5, 10-5 to make it three in a row for her as well.  

Last week's CSAC Women's Tennis Player of the Week Rakia Otoo (Bronx, NY/Manhattan Center for Science & Math) would also continue her winning streak making it two in a row this weekend winning the #4 singles 6-4, 6-1.  Olga Cauble (Concord, NH/Concord) who before this season had never been on the Falcons Tennis team, continued the trend the Falcons have been doing winning her fourth singles match in a row at the #5 position winning 6-3, 1-6, 6-2.  Lastly in the #6 singles Maria Vincent (Georgetown, DE/Sussex Central) would put forth good effort but fall 6-7, 4-6.

The Falcons improve to 8-6 overall and 5-3 in the CSAC and now have a four match winning streak.  The Falcons also sit in fifth place currently in the CSAC Women's Tennis rankings with just two matches to go.  The Falcons will travel to Marywood University on the 25th for a 3:30 start against the Pacers.
