Immaculata, PA
Box Score
In their last regular season match of the season, and with their first playoff berth on the line, the Falcons took to the road to take on CSAC foe Immaculata University.
The MACs who before the match were leading the Falcons by 1/2 a match in the conference standings for the last playoff spot took to the court with determination as did the Falcons. Â "We knew today wasn't going to be easy" said Head Coach
Lynn Pigliacampi "But our girls were confident going in, I was very happy with the way they carried themselves".
The Falcons and Macs started things off in doubles competition, which the Falcons would take the #1 singles thanks in part to partners
Amy Frey (Hellertown, PA/Saucon Valley) and Jamie Wojiechowski's performance in an 8-3 win. Â The Macs would have the Falcons number in #2 and #3 doubles as they would down
Rakia Otoo (Bronx, NY/Manhattan Center for Science & Math) and
Maria Vincent (Georgetown, DE/Sussex Central) 8-1 and then
Kyleen Sisson (Laceyville, PA/Elk Lake) and
Olga Cauble (Concord, NH/Concord) 8-5.
In singles competition
Amy Frey (Hellertown, PA/Saucon Valley) once again led the way winning the #1 singles in two sets winning 6-4, 6-1. Â Wojiechowski would follow Frey with another win in three sets winning 6-1, 3-6, 6-3. Â The rest of the day would be all Macs as they would win the singles 3-6. Â
With the loss the Falcons drop to 8-8 overall and 5-5 in the CSAC. Â "The way this team played this year, they have no reason to hang their head" said Head Coach Pigliacampi "They not only doubled their wins from last year, but to bring the excitement of a playoff run back to the Cedar Crest College campus, that's what college athletics is all about, I'm already excited for next season".
