It was Senior Day at Cedar Crest College, as the Falcons recognized
Kim Katsigianis (Amherst, NH/Souhegan),
Leia Epstein (Plymouth Meeting, PA/Plymouth-Whitemarsh) and
Cassandra Bejar (Allentown, PA/William Allen).
The three seniors did not disappoint either. Â With all three starting the game the Falcons got off to a hot start. Â In the first half alone, the Falcons set a season high for goals with 12 goals on 19 shots, and finished the solid first half with 25 groundballs. Â The Falcons as a team also controlled the ball successfully at mid-field with 11 first half draw controls to go with 12 goals.
At halftime, the three senior would once again be recognized with flowers and teams pictures and a halftime fire up speech by head coach Cindy Joseph.
The second half however would not start the Falcons way as they saw their 10 point advantage nearly completely disappear. Â Leading 13-2 early in the second half, the Bryn Mawr Owls would go on a four goal team in the matter of seven minutes to bring the score to 13-6. Â
Jen Harbison (Phillipsburg, NJ/Phillipsburg) and
Emily Rodenberger (Pennsburg, PA/Upper Perkiomen High School) would put one in the net each to push the score back to nine, before the Owls would take advantage of their second man up oppurtunity to make it 15-8. Â
Amber Wehry (Klingerstown, PA/Tri-Valley Jr/Sr) and
Gerlie Loyola (Manorville, NY/Eastport South Manor Jr/Sr ) would finish off the game in the final three minutes to close out the Falcons season with a win.
Standouts from today's game included a stellar performance by multiple players. Â
Krysten Gillan (Maple Shade, NJ/Maple Shade H.S.) finished with seven groundballs,
Leia Epstein (Plymouth Meeting, PA/Plymouth-Whitemarsh) and
Erin Studer (Kent, CT/Housatonic Valley Regional) each finished with five groundballs a piece, Studer would also add five goals on six shots to finish off her junior year with the Falcons.
Cassandra Bejar (Allentown, PA/William Allen),
Amy Frey (Hellertown, PA/Saucon Valley), and
Kim Katsigianis (Amherst, NH/Souhegan) would all finish with four groundballs. Â Katsigianis also finished with five saves on the day.
The Falcons also finsihed with 17 goals on the day. Â Studer, Rodenberger, Wehry, and Loyola would all finish with multiple goals while
DeJanet Lantion (Silver Spring, MD/John F. Kennedy), Harbison,
Vivianna Samite (Oakridge, NJ/Jefferson Twp) and
Amy Frey (Hellertown, PA/Saucon Valley) would all finish with one.
The Falcons finish the season 2-11 overall, and an impressive 2-3 at home.
