Fresh off of getting swept by conference rival Marywood, the next two games against Notre Dame of Md. were a must if the Falcons were to stay in the playoff hunt.
Playing both games without top pitcher
Natalia Dial (Kannapolis, PA/Jesse C. Carson), the Falcons would have to be creative on the mound against the Gators.
Game one the Falcons would pitch junior first baseman
Shannon Wenner (Drums, PA/MMI Preparatory). After giving up a 2 rbi single to Fallon, the Falcons would come to Wenner's defense in the 3rd inning, with Hallowell on baseball
Alyson Mason (Salem, CT/East Lyme) would rip an rbi triple to make it 2-1. Wenner would help her own cause and single in Mason to even the scored 2-2. The Falcons were far from done at this point.
Tammy Touhsaent (Mertztown, PA/Kutztown Area) would then single in Wenner for the Falcons third run of the inning,
Laura Swanhall (Cobleskill, NY/Cobleskill-Richmondville) would then follow suit and single in Tousaent to make it 4-2 in favor of the Falcons. After a
Kali Jones (Pottsville, PA/Pottsville Area HS) & Paige VanderMeer single's
Ericka Clayton (Zionsville, PA/Allentown Central Catholic HS) would walk up the plate and deliver a knockout blow for the Falcons. Clayton would lace a single and score both Jones and Swanhall to push the run total for the inning to six for the Falcons. Hallowell would top off the inning with a Sac fly to left fied to plate VanderMeer and finish the third inning leading 7-2.
The Falcons would strike for three more in the fourth and five more in the sixth before it was over taking game one 15-7.
For game one freshman
Kali Jones (Pottsville, PA/Pottsville Area HS) would set a season high hit total for herself finishing a perfect 4 for 4 on the day while driving in two. Another Freshman
Ericka Clayton (Zionsville, PA/Allentown Central Catholic HS) would chip in going 1 for 3 with three rbi's.
Alyson Mason (Salem, CT/East Lyme),
Jeniffer Hallowell (Coopersburg, PA/Southern Lehigh),
Shannon Wenner (Drums, PA/MMI Preparatory),
Tammy Touhsaent (Mertztown, PA/Kutztown Area), and
Laura Swanhall (Cobleskill, NY/Cobleskill-Richmondville) would account for the remainder of the runs in game one.
On the mound Wenner finished with two strikeouts with only allowing six hits.
Game two would see more of the same for the Falcons as the team would plate 17 total runs in game two.
Trailing 8-5 heading into the top of fourth the Falcon bats would come alive. Wenner would walk to start the inning and then advance to second on a passed ball, Touhsaent would fly out to center and advance Wenner to third,
Laura Swanhall (Cobleskill, NY/Cobleskill-Richmondville) would then walk to put runners of 1st and 3rd for game one standout Kali Jone. Jones would ground out to second advancing Swanhall and plating Wenner to push the score to 6-8. Paige VanderMeer would then drive in Swanhall with a 4th inning single as the Falcons would inch closer making it 7-8. VanderMeer would then steal second and Clayton would walk to put two on for
Alicia Zook (Hughesville, PA/Hughesville High School ) who would single in Clayton and bring
Jeniffer Hallowell (Coopersburg, PA/Southern Lehigh) to the plate with two on. Hallowell would not disappoint as she would score an inside the park HomeRun as the Falcons would take their first lead of the day 11-8.
The homerun parade wasn't quite over, in the top of the seventh, senior
Alyson Mason (Salem, CT/East Lyme) took advantage of an extra large field to score the second in the park homer of the day and plate Hallowell in the process.
Game two saw six different Falcons finish with multiple hits, Hallowell and VanderMeer both finishing with four a piece to lead the Falcons. Hallowell would also finish with a game high 5 rbi's.
