In the first half, the Falcons dominated, especially in the attacking third where midfield maestro's Allison Rittle (Fredericksburg, PA/Northern Lebanon) and Kim Barry (Greentown, PA/Wallenpaupack Area) both showed some neat trickery that had the fans on the sidelines particularly thrilled. The first goal came in the 4th minute when Courtney Long (Coopersburg, PA/Southern Lehigh) received a nice ball from Kim Barry (Greentown, PA/Wallenpaupack Area) which she was able to easily pass by the Eagles goalkeeper. Long wasn't finished there , as she was able to put another one in the back of the net, unassisted. That tallies her goals up for the season to a total of 8 in just 5 games. The first half ended with the Falcons leading 2-0.
The second half was much like the first, as the Falcons dominated the majority of the half. Long found the net again in the 60th, before she was substituted. Junior Captain, Kim Barry (Greentown, PA/Wallenpaupack Area) showed her ability when she dribbled by the defense and scored an unassisted goal in the 72nd minute. It didn't take long before the midfielder doubled her goal-tally. Just five minutes later, Barry finished the scoring for the Falcons at 6-0. The shutout wouldn't have been possible without the great saves that Krysten Gillan (Maple Shade, NJ/Maple Shade H.S.) was able to pull off, with many of them being 1v1 saves.
The offense continued to rule the game as Cedar Crest kept having many goal scoring opportunities that they were just unable to put away towards the end of the game.
Head Coach Sarah Wolcott said after the game; "I thought we possessed the ball better than we have all season. I was really happy with our patience, and how well and often we looked to find feet. I think this win will give us good momentum moving forward.
