Box Score

In their second conference match of the season, the Neumann Knights and the Cedar Crest Falcons took to the courts earlier this afternoon.

Even before the match Head Coach Lynn Pigliacampi was optimistic, "Neumann is always a good battle for us, it's always been close and I know our girls are going to put up a good match today."  Starting with doubles competition the #1 doubles competition saw Senior Amy Frey (Hellertown, PA/Saucon Valley) and freshman Jamie Wojiechowski pair up to take on Bre Klar and Sarah Schroeder.  Wojiechowski and Frey would battle back and forth against the Knights, but the Falcons found themselves on the wrong side of a 9-7 score.  In the #2 doubles Rakia Otoo (Bronx, NY/Manhattan Center for Science & Math) and Emily Bryk (Whitehall, PA/Whitehall) would team up and they too would fall to the Knights 8-2.  Lastly in doubles competition, Olga Cauble (Concord, NH/Concord) and Kyleen Sisson (Laceyville, PA/Elk Lake) took to court three to face off against Cherie Allen and Talene Brinker as they too would battle for vital points but eventually fall 8-4.

In singles competition in the #1 Singles, Frey would fall 6-1, 6-0 to start things off and the Knights found themselves up 4-0.  But in the #2 singles and the #5 singles, Wojiechowski and Otoo would both force their games into three sets as Wojiechowski would win set two 6-4 and Otoo would drop two close sets first 6-3 then 7-6.  Bryk, Sisson and Cauble would all find themselves on the short end of the scorecard as Neumann would win 9-0.

The Falcons will turn right around as they travel to Baltimore for a match against the Notre Dame of Maryland Univeristy at 1:30 PM.
