Falcon Basketball Opens Saturday

The Cedar Crest College women's basketball team enters the 2014-15 season with high expectations after welcoming in a very talented class this season.

We are two days away from the 2014-15 edition of the Cedar Crest College basketball team kicking off their third campaign under the direction of Head Coach Ty Taylor.  This will feature some old and new faces on the roster in addition to a challenging schedule that will test this Falcon team.

Leading the Falcons this season are seniors, DeJanet Lantion (Silver Spring, MD/John F. Kennedy), Breonna Lewis (Abingdon, MD/Sovereign Grace Homeschool) and Shaquira McCottry (Philadelphia, PA/Girard College).  As they begin their final journey as Falcons, the threesome hope to achieve a level us success that has not been seen since the 2008-09 season when Cedar Crest went 14-12 overall and 8-8 in the CSAC.

Rounding out the roster are juniors; Kayleigh Keggan (Blairstown, NJ/Belvidere) and Denyell Spingola (East Haddam, CT/Nathan Hale-Ray); sophomore, Taylor Osley (Allentown, PA/Louis E. Dieruff High School); and freshmen, Sarah Babbie, Carley Desiderio (Boyton Beach/Olympic Heights), Victoria Eppright (Drexel Hill, PA/Delaware County Christian), Elizabeth Michas (Moravia, NY/Moravia Central),Miranda Schaefer () and Shemeca Thompson (Bridgeport, CT/Warren Harding).

The Falcons will play the first of three Penn State University branch campuses this season.  On Wednesday, November 19th they host PSU Lehigh Valley; then host PSU Abington on Saturday, November 22nd in the 3 p.m. game of the Hilton Garden Inn Tournament at Lees Hall Gymnasium.  To start the New Year off, the Falcons travel to Middletown, PA to take on PSU Brandywine on January 3rd at 5 p.m.
Other non-conference opponents are Lehman College and Morrisville State College, both of whom will participate in the Hilton Garden Inn Tournament the weekend of November 22nd and 23rd at Cedar Crest.  Your Falcons will travel to Brooklyn, New York to battle St. Joseph's College on Monday, December 1st.  And before the holiday break, Lees Hall will welcome the Diplomats of Franklin & Marshall College on Monday, December 8th at 7:00 p.m.  To wrap of the regular season, the Falcons travel to "The Pit" to battle the Patriots of University of Valley Forge.
