Box Score

Warm sunshine and crisp temperatures followed the Cedar Crest Lacrosse Team as they traveled to Bryn Mawr, PA to battle against the Owls of Bryn Mawr College. With last year's win over the Owls the Falcons looked to add a win to the books, but despite a heated second half, the Falcons would fall to the Owls 4-14.

In the first half of play, the Falcons were neck in neck with the Owls for successful ground ball pick ups with 9 for each team. Senior Amber Wehry (Klingerstown, PA/Tri-Valley Jr/Sr) would lead the Falcons with 4 out of the 7 draw controls. DeJanet Lantion (Silver Spring, MD/John F. Kennedy) and Jen Harbison (Phillipsburg, NJ/Phillipsburg) played some aggressive defense which really kept the owls on their toes. The first half of the game would conclude 0-9 in favor of the Owls.

After the halftime break, the Falcons returned to play with improved vigor and boldness on the field. Sophomore Emily Rodenberger (Pennsburg, PA/Upper Perkiomen High School) would hit the back of the net on a free position shot at 17:35. With communication on the rise for the Falcons, Lantion would cause a turnover that allowed sophomore Vivianna Samite (Oakridge, NJ/Jefferson Twp) to rip an unassisted goal on the Owls goalkeeper. Just minutes later, defender Harbison would score off of a free position shot at 12:12. Rodenberger would put one more in the net with 11 seconds left in the game.

Sophomore Goalkeeper Nicole Rivera (Bronx, NY/Eximius High School) would end the game with 7 saves, 4 ground balls, and 2 caused turnovers. Wehry also lead the team in caused turnovers with 3 followed by Lantion, Samite, and Krysten Gillan (Maple Shade, NJ/Maple Shade H.S.) with 1 caused turnover a piece.

The Falcons will drop to 0-2 overall while the Owls improve 2-4 overall. Up next, the Falcons will play at home against the Colonels of Wilkes University on Saturday, March 22nd. Game time is at 1:00pm.
