Looking to turn their luck around, the Cedar Crest Falcons hosted the Defenders of Baptist Bible.
In game one the Falcons would find themselves down 8-0 in the fourth. The Falcons would then put some runs on the board thanks in large part to
Kali Jones (Pottsville, PA/Pottsville Area HS) who's 2 RBI double would score seniors
Shannon Wenner (Drums, PA/MMI Preparatory) and
Tammy Touhsaent (Mertztown, PA/Kutztown Area). Three straight singles by
Rachel Stump (Fleetwood, PA/Fleetwood),
Ciara Lane (Northampton, PA/Northampton Area) and
Javara Troupe (Tampa, FL/Tampa Bay Tech) would push the score to 8-6. After Troupe would score on a passed ball
Ericka Clayton (Zionsville, PA/Allentown Central Catholic HS) would ground out to second with Lane scoring from third to tie the game at 8-8.
The tie game wouldn't last long as Baptist Bible would push two across with a two RBI double. The Defenders would add four more in the seventh to finish off game one.
Offensively for the Falcons, Jones and
Maggie Olock (Bethlehem, PA/Liberty High School) would both finish with two hits a piece while Wenner, Stump, Touhsaent and Lane would all add hits, while Troupe would finish game one a perfect 4-4 with one run and one rbi plus a stolen base.
On the mound
Shannon Wenner (Drums, PA/MMI Preparatory) went 6.1 innings, striking out four while forcing six fly outs and five groundouts.
In game two the Falcons offense would rattle off a season high 17 hits led by freshman
Ciara Lane (Northampton, PA/Northampton Area)'s 4-4. Lane would also finish with three RBI's.
Javara Troupe (Tampa, FL/Tampa Bay Tech),
Shannon Wenner (Drums, PA/MMI Preparatory),
Chelsea Klausfelder (Red Hill, PA/Upper Perkiomen High School) and
Kali Jones (Pottsville, PA/Pottsville Area HS) all finished with multiple hits. Lane and Touhsaent both finished with multiple RBI's.
Ericka Clayton (Zionsville, PA/Allentown Central Catholic HS) toed the rubber for the Falcons and went all seven innings forcing eight fly outs and ten groundouts.
The Falcons offense would also put two four innings to amount to ten runs for a season high in runs.
