Box Score 2 Rosemont, PA
What was originally scheduled for a home game back in March, the Cedar Crest College Softball team took to the road to take on Rosemont College in a Colonial States Athletic Conference game.
Looking to end their skid dating back to April of 2013, the Falcons put on a first inning that was one that Rosemont would've liked to forget. Thanks to several extra base hits and timely hitting by the Falcons, Cedar Crest would go up 7-1 in the first inning.
Kali Jones (Pottsville, PA/Pottsville Area HS) would account for two of those runs with a two RBI double to center field before eventually being brought home by
Ciara Lane (Northampton, PA/Northampton Area)'s RBI single.
The Falcons offense wouldn't stop there as they would add five more runs thanks in large part to senior
Shannon Wenner (Drums, PA/MMI Preparatory). Wenner accounted for three RBI's and three runs scored with a solo home run to left in the 4th and a 2 RBI double in the 5th.
Wenner would also get the nod in game one, giving up just three hits in two innings.
In game two, the Falcons offense would stall early as Rosemont would take an early 6-0 lead heading into the third inning. But
Ericka Clayton (Zionsville, PA/Allentown Central Catholic HS),
Nichole Blank (Gap, PA/Pequea Valley High School) and Jones would all produce RBI's to bring the Falcons to within two.
The Ravens however would add four in the third and six in the fourth to take game two in five innings.
Offensively for the Falcons, Wenner, Clayton,
Rachel Stump (Fleetwood, PA/Fleetwood), and
Javara Troupe (Tampa, FL/Tampa Bay Tech) all finished with multiple hits while Jones,
Tammy Touhsaent (Mertztown, PA/Kutztown Area) and Blank would all add hits for the Falcons.
Troupe, Clayton, Jones and Stump would all also collect stolen bases.
On the mound Jones and freshman
Alexis Baxter (Clifton Springs, NY/Phelps-Clifton Springs) would team to strike out five while forcing four flyouts and three groundouts.
The Falcons now sit at 1-17 overall and 1-9 in the CSAC and will play host to CSAC foe Baptist Bible on Thursday. Game time is set for 3:30 PM.
