Soccer Opens 2014 Campaign at TCNJ

Box Score The Cedar Crest Womens soccer team began their season on the road with a tough season opener as they fell to NJAC powerhouse, The College of New Jersey (TCNJ).

The Lions of TCNJ would open up scoring in the 39th second of the game from a ball that was slipped through the Falcon defense. The Lions scored again in the 6th minute when they were able to make use of a good cross from the right side of the field. Their crosses were their strength as they were able to slip two more , in the 23rd, 27th, 29th 31st and 33rd, minute before the half.

The Falcons began the second half much more enthusiastic than in the first and were able to hold off the powerful Lions attack for quite some time. However the Falcons let 3 more goals slip by Freshman goalkeeper Nalani Velasquez (Howell, NJ/Howell), taking the score to 10-0. The Falcons would end the second half with more opportunities than the first but were unable to capitalize on these opportunities.

The Falcons will be on the road on Wednesday September 3rd as they take on Valley Forge Christian College at 4pm.
