Allentown, Pa- The Cedar Crest women's tennis team was unable to continue their winning ways as they fell in their home opener to the Alvernia University Crusaders 8-1.

In singles action, Falcons number one singles player Jamie Wojciechowski (Archbald, PA/Valley View) couldn't get into rhythm as she fell easily 6-0 6-0 to the Crusaders number one player. Similarly in number two singles Emily Bryk (Whitehall, PA/Whitehall) was only able to secure 1 game against the tough opposition from the Crusaders number 2. At singles three, five, and six Rakia Otoo (Bronx, NY/Manhattan Center for Science & Math), Olga Cauble (Concord, NH/Concord), and Sarah Babbie (Champlain, NY/Northeastern Clinton Central) would also have tough opposition as they fell with identical scores, only securing a game each. Kyleeen Sisson would be the only victorious Falcon for the day as she battled through to win her singles match at 7-5, 7-5.

In doubles action, the Falcons would find the competition two strong as they fell in all three doubles matchups. At number one doubles Jamie Wojciechowski (Archbald, PA/Valley View) and Emily Bryk (Whitehall, PA/Whitehall) fell 8-0, at number two doubles Rakia Otoo (Bronx, NY/Manhattan Center for Science & Math) and Kyleen Sisson (Laceyville, PA/Elk Lake) battled hard but had to settle for three games as they fell 8-3 to the Crusaders. Taylor Doran (Petaluma, CA/Casa Grande) and Sarah Babbie (Champlain, NY/Northeastern Clinton Central) also had difficulty securing enough games as they fell at number three doubles 8-4. With Sisson having the only win for the day the Falcons would fall 8-1 to the Crusaders.

With the loss the Falcons fall to a 2-1 record, and will be on the road again on Friday September 12th as they take on the Misercordia University Cougars at 4pm.
