Box Score ALLENTOWN, Pa.---The Cedar Crest College soccer team earn three conference points after defeating Notre Dame of Maryland University, 2-0, in their annual Think Pink game on Saturday afternoon of Fall Family Weekend.
"I am so proud of our team today," commented fourth year Head Coach
Sarah Wolcott. "We knew Notre Dame of Maryland was going to work hard from the lick, but we didn't come out of the gates as hard as we needed to, and had a hard time keeping up with them. The sign of a good team, though, is being able to rebound…and that's what we did in the second half. We put our best foot forward and worked hard for on another. We relaxed and played soccer, which is exactly what we needed to do.
Wolcott continued, "Katia came up big with a beautiful goal, and Kassie took it upon herself in the midfield to not let anyone beat her. Kim's goal was so well-deserved. She works hard every day and is a true leader for us. That really showed today. W hunted down a win today, and earned those three points."
The Falcons got off four shots in the first half, but neither team found the back of the net before halftime. With the clock at 79:46 a ball would switch fields to junior midfielder
Katia Olsen (Edison, NJ/J.P. Stevens) who lined up and placed a high shot over the keepers head and hit the upper right 90 for a 1-0 lead. Senior forward
Kim Incontrerea put the pressure on the defense who miss played a ball to put her on the attack with a shot over the goalkeepers head to solidify the 2-0 with just over two minutes to play.
The next game for Cedar Crest is on Tuesday, October 4 at 4:00 p.m. as the Falcons look for another three points with a win over Rosemont College.
