Box Score 2 CLERMONT, Fla.---The Cedar Crest College softball team split in their final day of spring training games at the Spring Games at the National Training Center. The Falcons defeated the University of Northwestern 4-2 and later falling 7-4 to New England College on Friday evening.
Cedar Crest would score in the first, third and seventh inning to win the first game. Freshman third basemen
Aimee Sarboukh (Somerset, N.J./Bound Brook) went 2-for-3 while five other Falcons had hits in the game. In the first inning sophomore
Kaylee Martinez (Hemet, CA/West Valley) made the most of an error reaching first, then stealing second and would be put into scoring position on a bunt and would score off a routine ground ball.

Lily Acosta (Bethlehem, PA/Liberty ) singled to right center to begin the third inning and would steal second to be knocked in on a home run to left field by
Martinez, her first of the season to take a 3-0 lead. In the top of the seventh
Sarboukh singled to right field and would advance to second on the next batter she would be brought home by a single to right center by junior catcher
Rachel Stump (Fleetwood, PA/Fleetwood) for a final score of 4-2.
The Falcons would score in the first and fifth inning of game two but it wasn't enough to close the deficit as The Pilgrims took a 4-0 lead in the first inning. Cedar Crest responded to the four runs with two runs of their own as
Martinez hit her second home run of the day over the left field fence. Freshman outfielder
Kelly Reading (Taunton, MA/Taunton) was walked and then stole second and with a wild throw advance to third, on the next batter an error would score the run.
Martinez rallied on two outs with a double down the left field line and would steal third and on an error would advance scoring a run.
Reading singled to right field and would advance to second on the next batter,
Sarboukh singled to left center for the RBI but that would be the end of the runs for the Falcons.
Cedar Crest returns to Pennsylvania and will resume play with a non-conference double header at University of Valley Forge at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 16.Â
