Softball Splits in Day Two of The Spring Games

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 CLERMONT, FL.--- The Cedar Crest College softball team split with Messiah College and Lancaster Bible College in day two of The Spring Games in Clermont, Florida on Monday evening. The Falcons fell to Messiah 14-0 and defeated Lancaster Bible 11-3.

In game one sophomore shortstop Kaylee Martinez (Hemet, CA/West Valley), junior catcher Rachel Stump (Fleetwood, PA/Fleetwood), and freshman third basemen Aimee Sarboukh (Somerset, N.J./Bound Brook) all tallied one hit while sophomore outfielder Lily Acosta (Bethlehem, PA/Liberty ) was walked once while freshman outfielder Kelly Reading (Taunton, MA/Taunton) was walked twice.

The Falcons would take a 2-1 lead in the first inning by fielding errors and then took a 4-2 lead in the bottom of the second as a single turned into a triple for freshman Nicole Ortiz-Siffel (/Southern Lehigh). With one runner on Martinez tripled to left scoring the run but was caught at home trying to advance on the play.

Cedar Crest opened the game up in the bottom third extending the lead to 9-3. Freshman pitcher Laura Rau (Emmaus, Pa./Emmaus) singled up the middle as Reading moved her to second. Ortiz-Siffel was walked to load the bases for Sarboukh who singled up the middle for one run. Acosta followed that up with a double up the middle for two RBIs. Martinez hit a single for two more RBIs before the inning ended.

In the bottom of the sixth the team rallied with two outs starting with Reading who singled as Ortiz-Siffel followed her up with a RBI single to right field. Sarboukh singled up the middle for the final run of the game for an 11-3 win.

The Falcons continue play tomorrow with games at 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. with the first game against University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg and ending with Alfred University.
