Box Score 2 ROSEMONT, Pa.---The Cedar Crest College softball team improved to 3-1 in the Colonial States Athletic Conference by defeating Rosemont College 9-1 the first game and 13-0 the second game on Tuesday afternoon.
The game started with a triple to center field by freshman outfielder
Kelly Reading (Taunton, MA/Taunton) who would score on a wild pitch on a later play. Two error gave the Falcons two more runs to take a 3-0 early lead over the Ravens.
Cedar Crest would tack on six unanswered runs in the third inning, freshman third basemen
Aimee Sarboukh (Somerset, N.J./Bound Brook) double to left field to get the inning started as sophomore first basemen
Molly Schnaubelt (San Diego, CA/University City) hit an RBI single to left field. Freshman designated player
Nicole Ortiz-Siffel (/Southern Lehigh) hit a double to left field advancing the runner to third. A routine ground ball score another run before freshman pitcher
Laura Rau (Emmaus, Pa./Emmaus) hit an RBI single to left center. Freshman outfielder
Lily Acosta (Bethlehem, PA/Liberty ) singled through the left side as
Reading followed up with a double up the middle for another run. Sophomore shortstop
Kaylee Martinez (Hemet, CA/West Valley) hit a single to center field for two RBIs to take a 9-0 lead.
In game two the Black and Yellow took a 1-0 lead due to errors in the second inning. In the third inning,
Sarboukh doubled down the left field line and would be moved to third as
Schnaubelt singled to the shortstop. A run was scored on an illegal pitch, junior first basemen
Olivia Lopez (Brandywine, MD/Gwynn Park ) singled to second base scoring another run and an error made the score, 4-0.
With the score 5-0 in the fourth inning,
Schnaubelt singled to left field to advance a runner. Freshman outfielder
Brittney Bonser (Kunkletown, Pa./Pleasent Valley) singled to right field and later stole second. Junior designated player
Rachel Stump (Fleetwood, PA/Fleetwood) singled to right field for two more runs to a take a 9-0 lead. In the top of the fifth,
Schnaubelt doubled down the right field line and moved to third on the throw as a run scored.
Ortiz-Siffel singled to left field to score another run.
Rau hit a home run to left field for two runs to make the score 13-0 for the sweep.
Rau threw her first collegiate no hitter in game one while striking out nine batters in five innings, as sophomore pitcher
April Daly (Burlington, NJ/Holy Cross ) struck out six batters in five innings to secure a shutout and two wins for the Falcons.
The Falcons play on Friday, April 8 at Cairn University with the first pitch slated for 2:30 p.m. in a Colonial States Athletic Conference double header.
