3/25/2017 5:26:00 PM

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 ASTON, Pa.---The Cedar Crest College softball team opened their Colonial States Athletic Conference schedule with a double-header at Neumann University as weather moved the location of the game, but the Falcons stayed as the home team. Cedar Crest dropped both games in five innings by a margin of, 10-0, and 12-4 on Saturday afternoon.

In the first game, the Falcons had a tough time finding their way on base. Sophomore outfielder Brittney Bonser (Kunkletown, Pa./Pleasent Valley) was able to connect for a base hit to left field, but was left on base at the end of the inning. The next inning was three up, three down for the teams while the next inning had the Knights taking a three run lead. The competition was able to string hits together over the next few innings to extend the lead 10-0.

Game two saw the Falcons continue struggle on offense, while trailing 1-0 at the end of the first inning the team cleaned the slate earning the own run to tie things at one a piece. Two runners were walked, and later advanced into scoring position for sophomore designated player Laura Rau (Emmaus, Pa./Emmaus) to hit a single to left field for one run. Trailing 12-1, in the bottom of the fifth inning, sophomore outfielder Kelly Reading (Taunton, MA/Taunton) was walked and advanced to second on a hard hit up the middle by pinch hitter Aimee Sarboukh (Somerset, N.J./Bound Brook). With runners on, junior shortstop Kaylee Martinez (Hemet, CA/West Valley) knocked in the pair with a double to left field. A sacrifice fly to centerfield by Rau scored Martinez which turned out to be the final run of the game as the deficit wasn't cut under eight runs.

The next game for the Falcons is on Tuesday, March 28 as they travel to non-conference Albright College for double-header that is slated for a 3:00 p.m. start.
