Box Score 2 HACKETTSTOWN, N.J.---The Cedar Crest College softball team has improved to 2-2 in the Colonial States Athletic Conference and 9-4 overall as they earned two wins over Centenary (N.J.) University on Thursday afternoon at Legion Field.

Alexis Baxter (Clifton Springs, NY/Phelps-Clifton Springs) started the fifth with a single through the left side, was moved to second on a sacrifice bunt while tagging up to advance to third on a fly ball. With the tying run on third sophomore outfielder
Jamie Rivera singled down the right field line to make the score two a piece heading into the bottom of the inning.
After seven innings the game remained 2-2 sending it into an extra inning. Top of the eight began with a single up the middle by
Rivera, who would advance to second on a passed ball. Junior shortstop
Kaylee Martinez (Hemet, CA/West Valley) would become the next base runner for the Falcons as she was walked.
Rau laid down a sacrifice bunt to the catcher to advance the runners to scoring position. The first run score on a wild pitch, while the second run scored due to a fielding error. Cedar Crest played tough defense, going three up, three down ending the inning with a double play.
Rau improved to 4-1 on the year with three strikeouts.
Game two remained scoreless until the third inning. Sophomore outfielder
Brittney Bonser (Kunkletown, Pa./Pleasent Valley) singled through the left side and moved to third on a double to left center by freshman second basemen
Courtney Constable (East Bangor, PA/Bangor Area). Both runners later advanced a base on a wild pitch to score the first run.
Martinez singled up the middle for an RBI and a 2-0 lead. The Falcons only had two other hit the rest of the game, but defense allowed them to secure a 2-1 win. Freshman pitcher
Kendra Pekurny (Kunkletown, PA/Palmerston Area) improved to 3-3 with one strikeout.
The Falcons take the field again on Saturday, April 1 with a double header set to begin at 5:00 p.m. as they take on CSAC opponent Notre Dame of Maryland University with the games being held at Coppin State University.
