Box Score 2 NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, S.C.---The Cedar Crest College softball team split a pair of games at the
Fastpitch Dreams Classic in North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, on Sunday afternoon. The Falcons dropped their first game against Pennsylvania College of Technology, 8-3, but would bounce back to win the second game, 2-0 against Penn State Harrisburg.
Three players were walked to start the third inning, junior shortstop
Kaylee Martinez hit a sacrifice fly to center field to score the first run for the team and tie the game 1-1. In the bottom of the fifth, trailing, 4-1, the Black and Yellow had two runners on for sophomore outfielder
Kelly Reading (Taunton, MA/Taunton) who singled to load the bases. Sophomore outfielder
Brittney Bonser (Kunkletown, Pa./Pleasent Valley) was walked to score the run and cut the deficit to 4-2.
Freshman third basemen
Dallas Horning (Bethlehem, Pa./Liberty) singled through the right side to start the bottom of the sixth inning. Freshman first basemen
Breanna Young (Easton, Pa./Wilson Area) followed up with another single that advanced the runner to third. Freshman second basemen
Courtney Constable (East Bangor, PA/Bangor Area) was walked to load the bases, when
Bonser was also walked to score the final run for the Falcons that couldn't cut the lead down, ending in a final score of 8-3.
Cedar Crest jumped out to a quick 1-0 lead in the second game of the day, as
Martinez singled to left center that score Constable who had reached first earlier by an error. To start the sixth inning sophomore pitcher
Laura Rau (Emmaus, Pa./Emmaus) would put herself in scoring position with a triple to center field looking to extend the teams lead. Junior first basemen
Molly Schnaubelt (San Diego, CA/University City) was walked while Horning placed a sacrifice bunt down to score
Rau.
The next game for the Falcons is on Tuesday, March 7 with three games, the first at 9:30 a.m. against Chatham University, next an 11:30 a.m. game against Wesley College and the final game of the day at 3:30 p.m. facing Lehman College.
