Box Score BETHLEHEM, Pa. ---The Cedar Crest College lacrosse team traveled across town to play at Liberty High School on a beautiful Tuesday afternoon, despite some heat the Falcons battled in a tough loss to Colonial States Athletic Conference foe Gwynedd Mercy University, 19-6.
The Griffins took a quick 3-0 lead, but Cedar Crest responded with three goals of their own. The first by senior midfielder Lauren Felix (Allentown, Pa./Saucon Valley), her seventh of the season, after picking up a ground ball and sprinting down field to goal. Freshman attack Theresa Neumann (West Point, N.Y./James I. O'Neill) scored her third goal of the year after freshman midfielder Hannah Schauber (Crumpton, Md./Queen Anne's County) sent her a pass in front of the goal for Neumann to blast past the goalkeeper. Tying the game was Felix, her second goal of the day was after she won the draw control and charged the cage for a 3-3 game with 17:44 still to play before halftime. Sophomore attack Alexandra Zoda (Poughkeepsie, N.Y. /Roy C Ketcham Senior ) put away her third goal of the year as the Falcons trailed 5-4 with just over 10 minutes before half, but the visitors extended their lead to 11-4 by the halftime whistle.
Just past the halfway mark of the second half, Zoda would notch her second goal of the day after picking up a ground ball she made her way to the goal and put her shot past the goalkeeper. Senior midfielder Regina Gill (Hellertown, Pa./Saucon Valley ) scored her 11th goal of the season with 7:37 left to play, Felix caused a turnover, picked up the ground ball and Gill was able to put it home for the teams final goal of the game, falling 19-6.
The next game for the Falcons is on Friday, April 14 as they travel to Rutgers-Camden with a 4:00 p.m. start in the non-conference match-up.
