Box Score CAMDEN, N.J.---The Cedar Crest College lacrosse team traveled to non-conference Rutgers-Camden on Friday afternoon which the team was defeated 12-2.
Cedar Crest took time to find a rhythm to get a shot off, when they did the first was by senior midfielder Lauren Felix (Allentown, Pa./Saucon Valley) as her shot sailed just wide of the goal. Senior midfielder Regina Gill (Hellertown, Pa./Saucon Valley ) took the next shot, but her attempt was saved by the goalkeeper. Sophomore attack Alexandra Zoda (Poughkeepsie, N.Y. /Roy C Ketcham Senior ) picked up a ground ball and fired her first attempt, but also missed wide. Gill found the back of the net at 20:23 to trail 3-1. Felix was awarded a fee position shot but the goalkeeper made the save, as this was the final shot of the period for the Falcons as their opponent extended the lead 11-1 by halftime.
In the second half, Gill, looked to score her next goal this time on a free position attempt that missed the target just high of the cage. Sophomore defender Ta-Tionnah Curtis (Newark, N.J./University) tried for a goal this shot going off frame, wide of the goal. Back-to-back shots came for the Falcons the first by Gill and the second by Zoda, both were saved. Sophomore attack Shelby Szoke (White Haven, Pa./Crestwood ) had a free position shot that was saved as the Falcons looked to put another point on the board. The second goal, and final shot of the game for Cedar Crest was a free position shot by Zoda making that her fifth goal of the year.
The next game for the Falcons is on Tuesday, April 18 as the team hold Senior Day against Keystone College at 4:00 p.m. with the game being held at Parkland High School.
