ALLENTOWN, Pa.--- The Cedar Crest College softball team split a pair of Colonial States Athletic Conference games with Cabrini University on Tuesday afternoon. Taking game one by a 14-0 margin in five innings before dropping the second game in a close 6-3 game.

With a runner on due to an error, junior shortstop Kaylee Martinez (Hemet, CA/West Valley) hit a homerun taking a two run lead after the first inning. An error, and a walk gave the Falcons two runners while a single to left field by freshman second basemen Courtney Constable (East Bangor, PA/Bangor Area) loaded the bases. Back-to-back singles by sophomore left fielder Kelly Reading (Taunton, MA/Taunton) and Martinez made the score 4-0 at the end of two innings.

The third inning began with an error to give Cedar Crest their first base runner, moving the runner was sophomore catcher Aimee Sarboukh (Somerset, N.J./Bound Brook) who hit a single to right field. A sacrifice bunt allowed both runners to advance into scoring position. Junior right fielder Jackie Gallagher (Fort Worth, TX/Keller Central ) knocked in both runs with a double to left field. A sacrifice fly by sophomore center fielder Brittney Bonser (Kunkletown, Pa./Pleasent Valley) gave the Falcons a 7-0 after three innings.

Junior designated player Molly Schnaubelt (San Diego, CA/University City) hit a single to right field advancing the runner who had reached first earlier due to an error. Back-to-back singles by sophomore pitcher Laura Rau (Emmaus, Pa./Emmaus) and Sarboukh scored two more runs for the home team. Freshman third basemen Dallas Horning (Bethlehem, Pa./Liberty) loaded the bases after being walked while Gallagher followed her down line also being walked allowing another run. Constable hit a double extending the lead by two more runs, but a single to center field by Bonser would give the Falcons their final runs of the game winning in five innings, 14-0.

Game two began with Bonser hitting a single to left field, and being advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt. Martinez opened game two the same way as game one with a deep ball over the fence for her second home run of the day, giving the Falcons an early 2-0 lead. Cabrini tied the game in the top of the third, 2-2.

Bottom three, Reading doubled to left field, and advanced to third on a ground out. Schnaubelt gave the Black and Yellow the lead again with a single to left field to score reading before the end of the inning. Unfortunately that is where the runs ended for the Falcons as they fell 6-3.

The next game for Cedar Crest is on Friday, April 21 as the team heads to Marywood University for a 3:00 p.m. start in a Colonial States Athletic Conference match-up.
