Lacrosse Stumbles at Notre Dame of Md.

BALTIMORE, Md.--- The Cedar Crest College lacrosse team fell to Colonial States Athletic Conference opponent Notre Dame of Maryland University on Thursday afternoon, falling by a score of 16-4.

The Falcons got their first shot attempt seven minutes into the game with a free position shot by senior midfielder Regina Gill (Hellertown, Pa./Saucon Valley ) that was saved. Freshman attack Theresa Neumann (West Point, N.Y./James I. O'Neill) earned the draw control which led to a goal, sophomore attack Alexandra Zoda (Poughkeepsie, N.Y. /Roy C Ketcham Senior ) earned her seventh goal of the season with a free position goal to get Cedar Crest on the scoreboard. Later in the period, sophomore attack Shelby Szoke (White Haven, Pa./Crestwood ) scored her third goal of the year with just over six minutes before halftime. Senior Ellen Hill (Madison, N.H./Kennett) tried her hand with the next shot for the team, but the goalkeeper made the save with that being the final shot for the team before halftime.

Gill managed to get herself downfield for another shot five minutes into the second half, but the goalkeeper came out with a save. Szoke had an attempt fly wide of the mark, while freshman attack Lauren Malik (Palmerton, Pa./Palmerton Area) had her free position shot blocked. Zoda scored her second goal of the day, and number eight of the season with 2:33 left in the game. Right after Hill gained the draw control and worked her way down field to earn an assist when she found Gill who scored her 16th goal of the year.

The next game for Cedar Crest is on Saturday, April 22 as the team heads to Neumann University for a 11:00 a.m. start in a Colonial States Athletic Conference match-up.
