Box Score 2 SCRANTON, Pa.--- The Cedar Crest College softball team traveled to Colonial States Athletic Conference foe Marywood University on Friday afternoon. The Falcons dropped both games, the first by a score of 7-4, and the second 4-1.
The Falcons were down 2-0 at the end of the first inning, but recovered in the second inning as junior designated player/ catcher Molly Schnaubelt (San Diego, CA/University City) doubled to right field to start things up. Sophomore catcher/designated player Aimee Sarboukh (Somerset, N.J./Bound Brook) singled through the left side to move the runner to third. Freshman Dallas Horning (Bethlehem, Pa./Liberty) hit a homerun to center field to take a 3-2 lead.
In the final inning, freshman second basemen Courtney Constable (East Bangor, PA/Bangor Area) singled through the left side while sophomore left fielder Brittney Bonser (Kunkletown, Pa./Pleasent Valley) followed her lead with a single also through the left side. Loading the bases with a bunt was sophomore center fielder Kelly Reading (Taunton, MA/Taunton). A sacrifice fly to left field by junior shortstop Kaylee Martinez (Hemet, CA/West Valley) scored the last run for the Falcons, falling 7-4 after seven innings.
Game two was a bit of a slower start as freshman pitcher Breanna Young (Easton, Pa./Wilson Area) managed to keep the Pacers off the board until the fourth inning, even working her way out of runner in scoring position in the third inning. Unfortunately, errors allowed the Pacers to take a 2-0 lead.
Martinez scored the only run for the Falcons with a home run to left field to trail 2-1.Another throwing error in the bottom of the sixth put Marywood up 3-1 before a singled to left scored another run across the plate for the home team that the Falcons couldn't come back from.
Cedar Crest returns home tomorrow on Saturday, April 22 for their Think Pink double-header starting at 12:00 against CSAC opponent Rosemont College.
