Box Score 2 ALLENTOWN, Pa. - The Cedar Crest College softball team extended their win streak to six games after picking up two wins over Keystone College. The Falcons won game one 8-1 while taking game two by a score of 10-6 in their home opener on Saturday afternoon on Cynthia L. Blaschak field.
To start the first game junior shortstop Kaylee Martinez doubled to left field, she would later score after junior designated hitter Molly Schaubelt hit a single up the middle for the first run of the game. The Falcons led the Giants 1-0 at the end of the first inning.
Freshman second basemen Courtney Constable (East Bangor, PA/Bangor Area) hit a double to right center for an RBI, scoring fellow freshman third basemen Dallas Horning (Bethlehem, Pa./Liberty) who was on second after hitting a single up the middle to get on base, lifting the Falcons' lead to 2-0.
In the third inning, Keystone put themselves on the board by scoring a single run. However, Cedar Crest gained momentum as Schnaubelt singled up the middle, allowing Martinez to advance to third, and sending sophomore Brittney Bonser (Kunkletown, Pa./Pleasent Valley) to home making the score 3-1. The Falcons added another run with sophomore catcher Aimee Sarboukh (Somerset, N.J./Bound Brook) singling up the middle and sending Martinez to home, 4-1.Â
After a quick three outs at the top of the fourth inning, Cedar Crest took their turn batting, to being the bottom of the fourth inning as Constable double to center field, while a sacrifice bunt advanced her to third. Bonser singled up the middle scoring Constable. With a runner on third, Schnaubelt hit a single to right field, extending the teams lead to 6-1.
A scoreless fifth inning sent the Falcons to the sixth inning as Martinez singled through the right side to begin the inning that she was able to advance to second on the throw. Schnaubelt followed up with another single this one up the middle, sending Martinez home. Cedar Crest ended the inning 8-1 with Sarboukh singling to the left field to score Schnaubelt. Rau improved to 6-1 on the season with four strikeouts in seven innings.
The Falcons took a 4-0 lead to start the second game as sophomore center fielder Kelly Reading doubled to center field, Bonser singled up the middle scoring a run and advancing to second on the throw. Martinez singled hard through the left side, and would later steal second. Schnaubelt singled for and RBI while advancing to second on the throw to home. Rau hit a deep ball to center field for her first home run of the season for two runs, ending the inning with a 4-0 lead.

The second inning began with a single for the Falcons to right field by Constable, who was later advanced to second on a well-placed bunt in front of home plate by Reading. Martinez picked the team back up with two outs when she went deep to left field for her first home run of the year as the Falcons led 6-1 heading into the top of the third.

Sarboukh looked to put more runs on the board when she ripped to right field, while Gallagher singled to the shortstop, she advanced to third as Sarboukh was caught in a pickle. Constable double to left field to score another run extending the lead, 7-4.

Cedar Crest collected two more runs in the fourth inning, Bosner singled up the middle to get the bats started for the team. Martinez doubled down the left field line to score Bonser, she later stole third. Rau hit a single to center field for an RBI making it a 9-4 game. In the fifth inning with Bonser on second, Schnaublet took a pitch deep to left field that just missed going over to extend the lead to its final 10-6. Freshman pitcher Kendra Pekurny (Kunkletown, PA/Palmerston Area) finished with two strikeouts after six innings pitched.
The next game for the Falcons is on Sunday, April 9 with another Colonial States Athletic Conference game against Immaculata University with the first pitch at noon on Cynthia L. Blaschak field.
