Box Score RADNOR, Pa.---The Colonial States Athletic Conference first round of playoffs was held at Cabrini University on Wednesday afternoon where the Cedar Crest College softball team heartbreakingly ended their season with a 10-5 loss.
The Falcons trailed, 5-0 in the fourth inning until junior catcher
Molly Schnuabelt was walked as the team's first runner. Sophomore
Aimee Sarboukh (Somerset, N.J./Bound Brook) moved her to third with a double to left center. Freshman third basemen
Dallas Horning (Bethlehem, Pa./Liberty) knocked in the first run with a single up the middle.
Cedar Crest kept the Cavaliers at bay with another scoreless inning for the home team. An error allowed sophomore left fielder
Brittney Bonser (Kunkletown, Pa./Pleasent Valley) to reach first. Senior first basemen
Alexis Baxter (Clifton Springs, NY/Phelps-Clifton Springs) singled to third base to move the runner. Junior shortstop
Kaylee Martinez (Hemet, CA/West Valley) cut the deficit after she crushed the ball over the left field fence to trail 5-4.
Baxter started the sixth inning with a single to right field center, and later advanced to second on a ground ball. A single through the right side by
Schnaubelt put the runner in scoring position.
Sarboukh scored the tying run with a single to center field, 5-5. Unfortunately five runs scored after two hits and two errors gave the Cavaliers five runs to advance to the next round tomorrow.
With the conclusion of the game,
Schnaubelt is tied for second in doubles in a season with 17, third for batting average with a .472, second for hits with 58.
Martinez moves into second in the record book for hit with 47, tied for second for doubles in a season with 17, second for runs with 47 and third for total bases with 90.
