ALLENTOWN, Pa.---The 2016-17 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District® Softball Team has been released to recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom.  Sophomore designated player Aimee Sarboukh (Somerset, N.J./Bound Brook) has been selected as a District 4 First Team honoree.

The Academic All-District® teams include the student-athletes listed on the following pages and are divided into eight geographic districts across the United States and Canada.  This is the sixth year of the expanded Academic All-America® program as CoSIDA moved from recognizing a University Division (Division I) and a College Division (all non-Division I) and has doubled the number of scholar-athletes honored. The expanded teams include NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II and NCAA Division III participants, while the College Division Academic All-America® Team combines NAIA, Canadian and two-year schools.

To be nominated for the Academic All-America program a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at his/her current institution. They must have participated in at least 50 percent of the team's games at the position listed on the form, and has reached sophomore athletic eligibility.

"Aimee is definitely deserving of this award," stated Head Coach Katie Lynch. "She is a kid who works hard on and off the field. She worked hard to be in the line-up anyway she could."

After concluding the season, Sarboukh had a .426 batting average, 101 at bats, 20 runs, 43 hits for five double, and one triple including 13 RBI's and 50 total bases. She holds a .495 slugging percentage with a .453 on-base percentage and leads the team with 12 stolen bases for the year. Sarboukh is was named to the Colonial States Athletic Conference All-Conference First Team, and was the team MVP this year. She has also earned CSAC All-Academic accolades as well as making the Dean's List while being in the Honors Nursing program.

The Division II and III Academic All-America® program is being financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures, to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2016-17 DII and DIII Academic All-America® teams program.

First-team Academic All-District®  honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America® honorees will be selected later this month.
