Box Score ALLENTOWN, Pa.---The Cedar Crest College women's soccer team faced Colonial States Athletic Conference reigning champions, Marywood University, under the lights at the FalconPlex on Wednesday evening. The Falcons put up their best fight but unfortunately fell, 5-0, in the teams' first conference game.
"Although, we didn't get the result for which we hoped, I'm not disappointed, because we worked hard and played good soccer," commented Head Coach
Sarah Wolcott. " Marywood is tough, and I thought we rose to the challenge and met their level of intensity. We did so many things well. Good teams capitalize on mistakes. Unfortunately, we made some mistakes , too and Marywood is a good team, so they took advantage. We readjusting our sights and foucused on our match agaisnt Rosemont this Saturday."
In the first half the Falcons were unable to put an offensive attack together, but the defensive line worked their hardest to keep the Pacers off the board. Junior goalkeeper
Morgan Maddock (Brick, N.J./Brick Memorial High School) made nine saves in the first half but the visiting team took a 3-0 lead by halftime.
Freshman defender
Kara Brownlie (Southampton, Pa./Abington Friends School) played a nice through ball to senior forward
Caitlyn Mann (Harrisburg, PA/Central Dauphin) who took positive touches to the goal taking a shot just inside the 18 that the goalkeeper saved. Freshman midfielder
Adrianna Tennis (Pine Grove, Pa./Pine Grove ) played a short ball to senior midfielder
Julianne Martone (Hackettstown, NJ/Hackettstown ) who fired a shot from 20 yards out that the goalkeeper came up with the save. Sophomore defender
Kimberly Rosano (Belvidere, NJ/Belvidere) took a free kick for the Falcons that hit the crossbar that came right down that the officials deemed a no goal.
Maddock made another seven saves for total of 16 saves.
The team travels to fellow CSAC opponent Rosemont College on Saturday, September 23 with start time slated at 2:00 p.m. on the turf.
