Tennis Comes Up Short Against Clarks Summit

ALLENTOWN, Pa. --- The Cedar Crest College Tennis team fell to the Defenders from Clarks Summit University Tuesday evening by a final score of 5-4. The Falcons are now 3-4 overall and have a 2-1 record in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) action.

In doubles action, the Black and Yellow managed to take one point at 3rd doubles. Senior Myeisha Harris and freshman Katherine Naples swept the Defenders with an 8-0 match to give the Falcons a 1-0 lead. Junior Beth Kistler and sophomore Alyssa Epsarro were at 2nd doubles and dropped their match 8-4. 1st doubles were the last flight to finish where senior Taylor Doran and junior Kristina Litonjua put up a fight, but lost the match 8-5 to had Cedar Crest trailing Clarks Summit 2-1 after double action.

Doran fell in 1st singles (6-3, 6-0) to put the deficit at 3-1, then Epsaro took down her opponent in the 4th spot, (6-0), (6-1). Naples defeated the Cavalier in the 5th spot to put the score even at 3-3. The Falcons take the lead as freshman Ashley Wilkins claimed the victory at 6th singles (6-4), (6-4). Kistler was then defeated (6-1), (6-1), which tied it back up at 4-4.  Litonjua battled in 2nd singles where it went to a third set, before ultimately falling in the two spot (5-7), (6-4, (1-0 (5-7)).

The Falcons will return to action on Friday, March 30 at 3:30 PM as they travel to CSAC opponent Keystone College in La Plume.
